Medal victory in the Cold War

In early April 2007 in both chambers of Congress had introduced a bill to establish a new military awards for their participation in the Cold War (Cold War Service Medal), supported by a group of senators and congressmen of the Democratic Party led by current U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Medal reward offered for all who served in the armed forces or worked in U.S. government agencies during the period from September 2, 1945 to December 26, 1991.

Like Hillary Clinton, "Our victory in the Cold War was possible only through the willingness of millions of Americans in uniform reflect the threat posed from behind the Iron Curtain. Our victory in the Cold War was a huge achievement, and those men and women who served in that time, merit awards.

Congressman Robert Andrews, who presented the bill in the House of Representatives, said: "The Cold War was a global military operation is extremely dangerous and sometimes fatal for the brave soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who participated in this campaign. Millions of American veterans who have served around the world to help us win this conflict, deserve to receive a unique medal in recognition of and respect for their service.

The U.S. has Veterans Association of the Cold War, which also demanded that the authorities' recognition of his services in the victory over the Soviet Union, but managed to only issue certificates of the Ministry of Defence, confirming the participation in the Cold War. Veterans Association released its own unofficial medal design which was developed by a leading expert at the Institute of Heraldry U.S. Army Neydinom Russell.
